| After about 9 hours of work total, the claymore is mostly done. I still need paint, stakes, fishing line, and I need to redo the trigger mechanism, but all that shouldn't take more than an hour (plus time for the paint to dry, depending on type of paint). Most of the time I spent on this was just sawing the wood. I didn't want to wait till my dad got home with his power tools, so I used a rusty old hand saw. If you want to save time, use an electric saw. That should cut it down to about 4 hours of build time. As far as the trigger mechanism is concerned, this one works well, but I tried to make it out of the spare steel wire I removed from the traps, which turned out to be too flexible after I had bent it into shape. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to remake that latch out of, but I'm open to suggestions. Maybe I'll find something if I look around the garage for a while. |
