PostSubject: Medic!!!   Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:28 am

I'm currently working on an Navy corpsman loadout and I just have a few questions...

1) I understand corpsmen, while not Marines, are authorized to wear USMC base uniforms...is that correct?
2) What kind of corpsmen-specific gear should I be looking for?
3) What kind of plate carrier/chest-rig? (And goodies to go on it)
4) Other gear? (IE: boots, goggles, gloves, etc...)

I already have desert MARPAT...but I'm pretty lost on everything else.

Can someone research this and get back to me? My internet is outta whack and it makes it difficult.
I'm thinking of going fully mil-sim with this...so stretcher, med-kits, etc...will all be used in gameplay Very Happy

I've talked to some local OP's, fields, and teams...and they all expressed interest in the medic system:

"Where were you hit?"
"Right leg."
"Superficial wound. Grab a buddy and return to respawn and rejoin game immediately."
(Places white band around right leg. If both legs or multiple body parts have been hit, require a stretcher medivac)

"Where were you hit?"
"Upper chest."
"You are dead. Return to respawn, wait 10 minutes, then rejoin game."
(Places red band on chest-rig/plate-carrier.)

Hopefully I can help put the medic role "on the map" Very Happy

personally dunno much about the gear but the medic rules here are

if hit once in the limbs you place a red rag on your person and depending on gear this couts as a chest shot so you sit down, a medic comes over to you then touches you for 1 min if not around in 5 mins you may crawl also team can move wounded, you can get hit 3 times in limbs befor out 2 times in torso and 2 times in head if wearing helmet each hit you add a min on ''medic time''

Eh, that just seems too confusing for large-scale use. All that counting and trying to keep track of time.
The method we use is...

-Torso/head...you're dead. (Return to respawn, time penalty.)
-Limb...you're wounded. (Return to respawn, resume play immediately.)

Counting hits...crawling...time limits...erg, just seems like it would end up confusing people.

i like it more then that, because you never leave the fight medic say its more fun then any other position.

because the mass amount of team work used pulling people out to cover and stuff knowing you are the main target.

ill post better tomarrow

Here ya go, Durkee, hope this helps. This is from what I could gather from my cousin

1) Corpsman wear the standard In-Theatre MARPAT utilities, but they will have a "NAVY" service tape on the left breast pocket rather than a "US MARINE" one.
3) They wear the standard MTV, but IBA will work fine for airsoft
4) They wear basically the same gear. They wear the Lightweight Helmet (Basically a lighter PASGT), Belleville 550, all the fun stuff

Just thought i'd put in my 2 cents!

At a few ops i have been to, they have all used the same medic system.

If hit, you can call for a medic. If the medic does not reach you in 60 seconds, you are automatically dead. If they reach you, heres what happens:
1. You sit where shot
2. medic lengths of rope two feet long. You hold onto this for sixty seconds.
3. The medic then ties a 2 foot length on your arm, you have been healed.
4. you may be healed three times (3 lengths of rope on your arm)
5. if hit while you have the 3 pieces of rope on your arm, you go back to respawn for 10-20 minutes(this number has varied from op to op)

This is based on an honor system, and most people are honest so i think it works great.

For a corpsman kit basically the only think you need beside the basic infantry/specialist sqaq gear is a medical pack. I got this info from a corpsman serving with a scout/sniper platoon in the 1st div.

1:"I carry a CLS bag"
2:"However... You can get a S.T.O.M.P II bag from Blackhawk and that's what we usually use."

Those are the two bags/packs that they use. Google both of them to find similar replicas as they are quite pricey.

Also, Corpsman work both with the USMC, Navy units(duh Laughing), AND recently even some army units are receiving corpsman. My cousin is deployed to Iraq with a convoy protection team for the US Army, his sister platoon's medic is a Navy corpsman. There has also been corpsman in the ranks of elite army units such as US Army Rangers.

Would a Corpsman Combat Assault Pack (CCAP) be suitable?
I found some online with modular holds and molle webbing on the exterior...for like $80 surplus.

If I'm running a realistic corpsman loadout, I would want desert tan, correct?

MOLLE 3 Day Military Assault Pack Backpack

I'm thinking replicas now...
-M4 (G4-A5)
-M9 (KJW M9 Tacmaster)

Do those fit the profile, because thats what Im using?

So we're pretty well agreeing on an MTV or IBA for torso?
Where can I get a PASGT for a decent price?
Black or tan boots?
Holsters? Thigh rig?
Signifact patches?

Is there anything else that stands out as an identifier or staple of corpsmen?

Thanks for all the help, guys.

Got a link? I think we may be talking about the same thing...

yes/no, It all depends on what they are issued/can get their hands on. Some would be Khaki, some might be CB... But with that IIIA pack you wouln't look any different than a Marine... Theoretically of course..

Spl. Durkee wrote:

This is spot on, as long as the M4 doesn't have any non standard KAC style RIS. Optics would be limited, but either Aimpoint M68 or ACOG.

1: MTV or HPC would be best....
2: Not PASGT, you would need a MICH 2000. They look similar but the MICH's ear protectors are way smaller. I believe they sell these on GI, if they don't check out EbayBanned.com
3:Holster would be a Safariland M9, in Khaki or Black depending on the kit timeline. Drop pannel in CB would probably be a good place to hold your IFAK or just a FAK pouch, if you needed another one.
4: Unless your are replicating a certain unit, no. Navy tapes if you want to take it to the extreme. Personally sense your not in the Navy I wouldn't do it.

A longish haircut compared to the Marine they are around. That seems to be about it. Besides the big ass medical bag they carry.

One thing to keep in mind is the Corpsman are issued with gear from the Marine/Army/Navy unit they are serving in! So wear whatever a Marine/Soldier/Sailor would wear...

Nevermind, I got my links mixed up. The pack that I found for $80 was the MOLLE 3 Day Military Assault Pack Backpack. But I did find this...

http://www.blackhawk.com/product/STOMP-II-Medical-Pack,876,42.htm <thats what I was talking about. LBT makes pretty much the same thing, that is much cheaper.

http://londonbridgetrading.com/ Search LBT-1562B(ravo) and you find a bag that looks like the S.T.O.M.P. II.

The STOMP-II and LBT-1562Bravo are both over $300...seems like alot to be spending on a pack alone...

& can I get some links for an IBA or MTV rig? I really can't find any...for some reason...

You can find the LBT rigs at surplus stores allot. Usually in OD because the US got rid of its OD stock. I saw one for $35 the last time I was out, didn't have the cash to pick it up though.

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_96&products_id=2120 Cause you kids like condor stuff allot!

OOP, found something...

http://www.voodootactical.net/p-162-voodoo-tactical-field-medical-backpack.aspx

Looks alot like an LBT rig...and that is a great price.
Thanks Sniper for bringing up Voodoo in your "Voodoo Tactical Vest" thread.

I think Voodoo is going to be the retailer of choice for this loadout...their medical section is pretty great.
